We did background research on the internet, ground-surveys, made posters stickers and a PowerPoint presentation addressing our classmates on the precautions they could take and the lessons they could pass on to their children or even their parents!

The ideas

Statistically, Iran has a high death rate caused by car accidents. Four factors are generally defined for causing unsafe driving: 1) Human factors, 2) Road, 3) Type of vehicle, and 4) Environment. Ignorance while driving is a driving factor in causing accidents in Iran. Using your phone (texting, checking social media accounts...), not paying attention to road signs, or even driving while being under the influence are among driving factors which cause motor accidents. Moreover, Iranians tend to eat, drink, and talk to other passengers a lot while driving. Wearing seat belts is not traditional in Iran since some feel more comfortable not wearing them! In addition, kids play a decisive role in car accidents. Some tend to sit in the front seat without wearing a seat belt, and some even stand on the front seat to look out the window! Also, some Iranian fathers hold their kids on their laps so that the children can feel like they’re driving in order to entertain them. All these human factors dramatically increase the rate of accidents.
Also, the improper Iranian roads cause too many accidents. Most roads are too old and worn down from bad weather; thus, increasing accidents. Insufficient lighting on roads, little or few signs on roads, steep slopes and sharp bends on some roads between provinces causes dramatic car accidents. The number of vehicles in Iran is high, 17 million cars for 80 million people. Due to sanctions, Iran hadn't been able to import high-quality cars so it had to rely on national production. There is a car which has been produced in Iran for over 20 years with the same model and same design with slight alterations. One possible cause of car accidents could be the insufficiency of high-quality cars on the roads.

The Initiatives

After having researched possible actions to take, we took a few initiatives to address first in this order: school, community, and finally globally.

-Posters
Conceptual posters or banner were created to address the main issues regarding road safety and what needs to be done. These were all separately designed based on the brainstorming which took place. After, the initial sketches were fully designed with Photoshop. Later, some were printed and hung on walls and others were handed out.

-Stickers
Stickers of various sizes and designs were made using Photoshop. Since stickers are smaller, they can even reach out to a greater audience than posters and banners. Some stickers were placed on students' bags.

-Video Presentation
A presentation containing a montage of various videos of car accidents and the dangers which come from not driving safely was presented in order to reach out to the emotional side of people and to convince them to drive safe.

-Guidelines
A set of guidelines were written and handed out so that everyone could both learn and remember some tips for driving safer and pass on that knowledge to their peers, children, or even parents!

-Email to UNESCO
An email was sent to UNESCO asking for assistance and/or collaboration on road safety. If the global community is aware of our current situation in Iran, they might assist us in correcting it or it may even bring Iranians to their senses and change their wrong habits.

Not bad

It's great to know that you have taken these significant initiatives, such as you Email to UNESCO. Your approach to deal with your ideas can be considered creative, for example, your attractive posters. However, I also believe that some other approaches you have taken are clichéd, and they need significant refinement. Good Luck
